Custom bourbon service drink cart

Table side service is a staple of many high end restaurant experiences. Our friends over at Fahrenheit restaurant in Cleveland asked if we could help them provide a cart that was able to add to a new experience they wanted to provide. Making the cart took many hours in the shop to create and refine the overall design and finishes.

This labor of love was conceptualized, fabricated and finished in our shop with a timeless design featuring contrasting blackened and traditional stainless steel finishes for the multi tiered cabinet base of the serving cart with bright brass accents throughout topped with a laboratory grade glass globe. Brass standoffs emerge from the body of the cart to support the vessel that will be host to delicious concoctions to be served table-side. Fahrenheit’s logo appears proudly on the doors in a beautiful high polish finish.

Custom cyclorama wall

Lindsey Po Photography business was growing, so she invested and moved into a larger space to be able to offer larger shoots. As a result the Cyclorama wall that was in her existing studio had to be removed and a new one would have to be built into her new space. Featuring 14 foot ceilings this entire wall was made to sprawl between 2 columns and to be as large as the space would allow. The team at Diesel Designs fabricated the skeleton and the stage out of wood with the skin of the backdrop out of drywall. We also mounted lighting trusses to the existing columns providing a platform in which to mount lights from. The curved base of the wall offers a seamless transition from the stage platform to the backdrop and provides a clean high key background for all of her photography needs and overall helping her to be able to do what she does best in helping others.

Custom live-edge radius shelving

We created custom shelving for the spa, crafted out of live edge spalted maple and skinned with metal. These shelves were created and finished to match the overall feeling and aesthetic of the entire spa, offering a clean and non obtrusive way to store and display items without the bulk of something that would take up floorspace. In the center of the floor are custom cut live edge maple pieces that are specially routed to match the radius of the column. The pieces were all finished in the Diesel Designs shop with a silver dusting on the live edge accents which works to overall soften the tone and give a cleaner, more ethereal appearance and works with the aluminum to carry the natural light and styling throughout the entirety of the space.

Custom Entrance Signage

After a recent build out the United Church of Christ needed a few treatments done to the wall in their lobby. We were able to take their idea, generate vector artwork and get that custom cut out of thick aluminum. The top of the wall bears the clients name “United Church of Christ and immediately below that are 2 illustrations of globes cut.  A cross was installed in the center of the wall and features the same finish that is present on the rest of the pieces. Below the globes their is a bible verse that reads “…that we may all be one” John 17:20-21’. We drilled and installed everything paying close attention to spacing and kerning throughout. Diesel Designs was happy to be able to help them accomplish this project and leave them with a lobby that is way more conducive to the brand.

Custom accent and foot railing

Stout was finishing their buildout of their newest office in downtown Cleveland. The finishing touches were being added when we got our turn to go in and work our magic. We fabricated, welded and finished the entire railing in the Diesel Designs shop before being transported to the job site and installed. The railings were made out of 1” hot rolled steel square tubing and finished with a durable lacquer finish. The railings look and feel, perfectly complementing other modern elements in the office. The railing provides a stable frame to functionally protect the edge of the counter as well as provide a stylish and stable place to rest your feet while sitting or working in this area of Stout’s beautiful new office.

Shop Floor (Dye, Etch and Polish)

The shop has been a labor of love for quite some time. If something can be customized the team at Diesel Designs takes the time to put their touch and twist on it. We were in the process of finishing the construction of the shop and going to seal our floors the thought swept over us that it was now or never to make a change tint the concrete. The floor was going to get some extra love! We cleaned the shop and prepared for the project to be started. We decided to dye the floor with a semi transparent dye to darken the concrete and really give it a dark gray tone that perfectly compliments the hot rolled steel accents on the faces of the cabinet doors. The next task was masterfully projecting, stenciling, staining and etching the company logo into the  floor. A pattern of concentric hearts in a gradient from white to black Is etched and stained into the concrete as well as a singular red heart in a vibrant red greets you as soon as you open the door. We protected and sealed in the color and artwork of the entire floor. It was sealed and polished to a gloss finish. The new finish is easier to maintain and clean up after a long day of making metal shavings and sawdust.
